    2x4s
    tape measure
    miter saw
    safety glasses
    framing nailer

    Framing Shower Wall

    1. Measure and mark the bottom and top plates of the new wall.

    2. Using a compound miter saw, make your cuts

    3. Lay out the studs and attach the top plate with a framing nailer, then flip it over and do the same for the bottom plate (figure A).

    4. Determine the placement of soap and shampoo niches. Measure, mark and place the blocking (figure B).

    5. With a pneumatic nail gun, secure into place

    6. Finally, attach the last piece of frame. The second top plate will interlock the adjoining walls.

    7. Mark and measure the position of the new wall, drawing a straight line with the level.

    8. Set the wall, add your nails, check the plumb and your done (figure C).

    Tub Deck

    1. Measure out 48 inches from the wall, which is the depth of the new tub deck for this bathroom (figure D).

    2. Pull a chalk line from the mark to the front of the shower wall. Snap the line (figure E).

    3. Build the front wall for the tub deck...2x4s cutting 15" as jacks.

    4. Mark the studs every 15 inches on center.

    5. Place the jacks and secure them with a framing nailer (figure F).

    6. Bring in the assembled tub deck wall and line it up in place.

    7. Once set, use the framing nailer to attach it to the shower wall stud and the floor.

    8. Nail into the floor joists for maximum stability (figure G).

    9. With the front of the tub deck in place, construct the sidewall for the tub area. Set it into place and secure it with nails.

    10. Do the same for the other side (figure H).
