Before you begin, ensure that the floor is clean and dry. A sponge mop is the best tool to use and it may take more than one cleaning. Also, remove any nails, staples or curling edges of the existing floor.

Most inlays require that you find and begin in the center of the room

Cutting the floor tiles only requires a utility knife, metal straight edge and tape measure.
    Materials:

    Carpet knife or utility knife
    Blades
    24 inch carpenter's square
    tape measure
    chalk line

    Installation Plan

    1. Most rooms are not exactly square. Make sure you account for this when ordering.

    2. Measure and mark the floor so that there are no cut pieces smaller than six inches

    3. A straight wall can be a good starting point; if you do not have a straight wall, a straight chalk line should be used.

    4. When in doubt, lay out the critical tiles before you start cutting.

    5. Don't forget to account for doorways, hallways, fireplaces, etc.

    6. If you are doing borders or inlays, chalk line their exact location.

    Panel Installation

    1. Prior to laying every tile, brush any yarn up that has fallen over the panel edge.

    2. Start by sweeping your concrete floor so the carpet squares will have no problem sticking.

    3. Use a chalk line to make a registration mark, where you will line up the edge of the carpet.

    4. Start at the rooms edge, peel off the carpet tape tags off the back of the tiles and begin applying them to the floor.

    5. Use the different color tiles to define different areas and add dimension.

    Fitting Tiles

1.. It is easiest to transfer measurements to the back of the tile and cut from the back.

    2. You can also scribe cut from the top using a 24" template.
