    Materials:

    Wall

    drywall
    pressure treated wood
    nail gun

    Door

    reciprocating saw
    nail gun
    power drill
    screws
    door jamb
    door knob
    trim

    Wall Construction

    1. First, measure for the sill plate.

    2. Place pressure treated wood in where the wall will be.

    3. Shoot a fastener every four feet, making sure the fasteners are no more than 12 inches away from each wall (figure A).

    4. Next, measure for the top plate by using regular 2x4s and nail them into place (figure B).

    5. Make sure to stagger the top plates to give the wall necessary strength.

    6. Mark the sill plate every 16 inches on the center for the studs.

    7. Measure the bottom because each stud may be slightly different in length due to the natural fluctuations in the floor.

    8. Finally, cover the newly framed out walls with drywall and give them ample time to dry before continuing on (figure C).

    Door Installation

    1. Remove the sill plate with a reciprocating saw.

    2. Set the doorjamb in place (figure D).

    3. Check for plumbing as you go and get everything straight with a few shims.

    4. Fire a nail through the jam, through the shims and into the wall.

    5. Next, score the shims and snap them off for a clean edge that will be framed over later.

    6. Now, it is time to put the door into position (figure E).

    7. First, screw it in and add a door stop in the center.

    8. Put trim on the door and to finish, put on the door knob.
