Along some walls, planks must be cut to fit. Dave measures the space between the installed boards and the wall and cuts to length using a table saw (figure L). Occasionally, installing a short board near a wall requires a pry bar to snap it into place (figure M).
To fit planks around irregular areas such as partition walls or corners, Dave cuts appropriate notches out using a jig saw (figure N).With Adam's help, Dave continues snapping in planks until covering the entire floor space (figure O).To add a finished look, Dave and Anne opt to install low cost trim around the doors and floors (figure P). Instead of choosing a natural wood molding, they select pre-primed MDF, which can be painted on immediately after being attached. The otal cost for the basement trim is $169.
