As you install each panel, use your fingers to check that the corners are flush with the other installed panels.

The end result is a beautiful floor. If a tile is stained, simply remove and replace.
    Materials:

    carpet knife or utility knife
    blades
    24 inch carpenter's square
    tape measure
    chalk line

    Floor Preparation

    • Ensure that the floor is smooth, dry, and level. Remove any nails, staples or curling edges of existing floor.

    • Fill any holes larger than a dime.

    • Ensure that the floor is dust free. A sponge mop is the best tool. It may take more than one cleaning.

    Planning

    • Most rooms are not exactly square. Make sure you account for this when ordering.

    • Measure and mark the floor so that there are no cut pieces smaller than six inches.

    • A straight wall can be a good starting point; if you do not have a straight wall, a straight chalk line should be used.

    • When in doubt, lay out the critical tiles before you start cutting.

    • Don't forget to account for doorways, hallways, fireplaces, etc.

    • If you are doing borders or inlays, chalk line their exact location.

    • Most inlays require that you find and begin in the center of the room

    Panel Installation

    • Prior to laying every panel, brush any yarn up that has fallen over the panel edge.

    • Check the back of the panel for arrow direction and ensure that the arrow points in the same direction as you install them.

    • Slide each panel into the previously laid panels to prevent trapping any yarn between the panels. Trapped yarn will make the seams visible.

    • Install the panels building a one-sided pyramid.

    • After placing each panel, kneel or stand on it to activate the TractionBack™.

    Cutting to Fit

    • Cutting Tesserae™ only requires a utility knife, metal straight edge and tape measure.

    • It is easiest to transfer measurements to the back of the tile and cut from the back.

    • You can also scribe cut from the top using a 24" template (or piece of Tesserae™).

    Finishing Touches

    • Make sure that proper transitions are used where Tesserae™ meets other flooring.

    • The moisture barrier should never be exposed to traffic.
