    Spiral Staircase Installation

    1. Determine and mark on the floor the center of the opening, then position the base. Secure in place with screws (figure A).

    2. Screw the center pole into the base plate positioned on the floor below (figure B). Follow up by inserting the base plate cover on to the pole.

    3. Now it's time to insert the spacers, the spacer cans and treads (figure C). When adding the treads, it's important to alternate placing one to the right and one to the left, so as to distribute the weight in a balanced way.

    4. Repeat this process until you reach the top (figure D). Keep in mind, you can add additional spacers if desired to give more rise between the stairs.

    5. When you have reached the top, screw the support for the newel post into place (figure E) and add an additional spacer and spacer can before setting the landing into place (figure F).

    6. Using a cordless drill, start the pilot holes for the brackets that secure the landing into place (figure G).

    7. Once the landing is in place, it's time to line up the treads and prepare for the baluster install.

    8. As a rule when lining up treads for a spiral staircase, the rear of each tread should overlap in the front of the tread immediately above it by one to three inches (figure H).

    9. Using the vertical rods to secure the treads into place, start at the bottom and work your way up as you prepare to install the handrail (figure I).

    10. Once part of the handrail is in place, screw in the threaded couplers that help lock it in place, adding glue for extra security; continue this process until the handrail reaches the bottom of the stairs (figure J).

    11. Finally attach the newel post (figure K) and the installation is complete (figure L).
