Drum Riser Construction
1. Take measurements of the area the drum riser will fill (figure A).
2. Put on eye protection and utility gloves.
3. Use a table saw to cut 2x4s (figure B).
4. Lay out the framing of the riser on the ground as the 2x4s are cut (figure C).
5. Use a drill and 3-inch screws to assemble the frame.
6. For the top, use 3/4-inch plywood (figure D).
7. Cut to the shape of the framing for the riser. Two panels or more may be necessary, depending on the shape (figure E).
8. Secure to the riser framing with more screws.
9. Once the first panel is in place, draw guidelines on the panel to show where the studs are.
10. Screw the last panel(s) into place onto the internal stud framing.
11. Once the drum riser assembly is complete, paint the exterior (figure F). Two coats are recommended because dry, fresh lumber is highly absorbent (figure G).
12. Bring the riser into the room and put in place (figure H).
