    2x4 stock
    2x3 stock
    circular saw
    hand drill
    reciprocating saw
    screws
    measuring tape
    laser level

    Soundproof Wall Framing

    1. Build a stagger stud wall so that sound can get trapped in the air gap.

    2. First, lay down a bottom plate (figure A), 2x4, and attach rubber strips (figure B). This will help keep the room quiet.

    3. Locate the stud locations (figure C). Leave spaces for the new doors.

    4. Use a laser to transfer marks from the bottom plate to the top plate (figure D).

    5. With a compound miter saw, cut the 2x4s for door frames and 2x3s for the wall studs (figure E).
