Cushioned Mat1. Cut another piece of 3/8-inch plywood to the size of the exercise table. This will serve as the backer board for the cushioned mat.
2. Use spray adhesive to attach a piece of foam to the backer board. Coat both the plywood and the foam with the spray adhesive (figure L).
3. The foam is the core of the cushion. Choose a density appropriate to how soft or firm you want the mat to be.
4. Let the spray adhesive dry a little to make it tacky, and then sandwich the two pieces together (figure M).
5. Trim the foam with shears to size, once the pieces are firmly glued together (figure N).
6. Lay the fabric on top of the foam (figure O). Turn the entire piece over, plywood facing up.
7. Go around the edge of the table, starting on the longest side, pulling the material taut and stapling it into place. Staple in about two to three-inch increments, starting from the middle and working toward the corners. Make sure to keep the material taut.
8. When done stapling, use utility scissors to cut off the excess material.
9. Staple Velcro to both the table and the mat onto the table (figure P).
10. You're finished (figure Q)!
