    Michael Ray demonstrates how to install a doorjamb and door to the storage room. Inside the wine cellar, a custom pre-hung door is installed using shims, foam insulation and trim.

    trim
    hinge jig
    plunge router
    nail gun
    finishing nails
    level
    measuring tape
    screws
    wood glue
    shims
    jamb stock
    doors

    Door Installation

    1. For the storage room door, start at the top and shim the door until it is level (figure A).

    2. Add shims to the wall side to make the jamb plumb. Secure through the shims.

    3. Once the jamb is securely in place, cut off the excess shims and install trim to hide the framing (figure B).

    4. For the wine cellar door, since the door is pre-hung in the jamb, install the jamb and door in the opening and use shims to make plumb and square.

    5. On the inside between the frame and the jamb, insert foam sealing (figure C).

    6. Once the foam dries, cut off the excess and install the trim.

    7. The door looks great (figure D)!
