    Amy shows the Edradas how to replace the water damaged sills with new 1x4s. With the new supports in place, the team brings in the new door and uses shims to get it level and balanced. Once plumb, they install insulation and nail up the interior and exterior trim. After a little wood putty and caulk, they day is done.

    Silicone caulk
    Hammer
    Nails
    Screws
    Insulation
    Paint
    Screwdriver
    Pry bar

    New Door Installation

    1. Completely clean old caulk and nails from the opening (figure A).

    2. Dry fit new door into rough opening (figure B).

    3. Run a bead of silicon caulk under the new threshold area of the door unit (figure C).

    4. Reinstall new door unit into rough opening (figure D).

    5. Plumb and level door unit - add shims on sides as needed (figure E).

    6. Nail through door jamb, through shims and into doorway framing.

    7. Secure with 3" screws.

    8. Stuff fiberglass insulation in the space between the door jamb and doorway framing.

    9. Cut and install exterior brick molding (figure F).

    10. Cut and install interior door casing (figure G).

    11. Caulk brick molding and casing (figure H).

    12. Paint exterior of door, brick mold and doorjamb.

    13. Paint interior of door, doorjamb and casing.

    14. Install and adjust the hardware.
