    The DIY to the Rescue crew begins the first day by clearing out the Edrada’s patio. Then, Amy gets to work showing the couple how to remove their rotting, leaking patio doors. After removing the casings and hinges, they haul the old doors off to the curb.

    Utility knife
    Chisel
    Hammer
    Pry bar
    Sawzall
    Screwdriver

    Patio Door Removal

    1. Using a utility knife, lightly cut along the edges of the interior casing and exterior brick molding to slice through any caulk (figure A).

    2. With chisel and pry bar, remove interior casing.

    3. Remove the exterior brick molding (figure B).

    4. Use a sawzall to cut between the door jamb and the door’s rough opening.

    5. Push door unit out to the exterior of the house (figure C). Old door has now been removed.
