Bookcase Door: Finishing Touches From "Weekend Handyman" episode WKH-407

With the help of a custom closet installer, a closet organizing system is installed. Next, Paul builds a loft to go above the closet organizing system. Finally, the closet is filled with huge removable jungle animal stickers.

	Originally, this was a regular closet door...
	but there is nothing regular about it now.
	This bookcase door holds all sorts of stuff, and can easily be opened by children.

Door strike

Finishing Touches

1. With the help of a closet organization professional, a closet organizer is installed (figure A).

2. On top of the organizational system, a 4 X 4 plywood platform loft is installed. Cut the 1 X 3 pieces of wood to size and make countersink holes (figure B) where they will be screwed together.

3. Lay them out and secure with 1-5/8 inch screws (figure C).

4. Once the cleat box is finished, add the plywood to create the base (figure D).

5. To know where to screw, make pilot holes in the platform.

6. Screw the platform directly into the studs with a right angle impact driver and long extension bit (figure E).

7. Cover the face with 1/4" melamine for a nice finished look (figure F).

8. Finish off with a safety rail (figure G).

9. Add a ladder to access the top (figure H).

10. Animal stickers are added to bring texture and fun to the walls (figure I).

11. The kids now have a fun loft to play in (figure J)!
