After the Weekend Remodel: a wall of monitors is created to capture the action of several teams at once. Touchdown!
With the component box and backer board built, it's time to start adding the finishing touches to the outside of the media wall -- paint and trim!

    1. Begin by giving the dried joint compound a light sanding, then apply a second coat of joint compound (also called drywall mud). Quick-drying compound is best, since it only takes about an hour of drying time between coats.

    2. While the second coat of compound dries, measure for the trim 1 x 6 trim that will surround the upper TV openings. Transfer these measurements to your wood and cut with the miter saw.

    3. Host Fuad Reveiz will use biscuits to join the mitered corners of the trim together. First, position the trim corners and lay out biscuits for best placement (figure A). Draw a line across both pieces of the trim corner for consistency (figure B).

    4. Use a biscuit joiner to cut slots (figure C). Next, apply carpenter's glue to the slots and the biscuits, slip the biscuits into the slots, then press together. For additional strength, nail the corners.

    5. Add backband molding (figure D) to dress up the edges and complete the frames.

    6. On the plasma TV opening, simply cut and nail trim into place directly onto the media wall (figure E).

    7. Sand the second coat of joint compound, wipe away residue, then apply a final coat (figure F).

    8. Add the component box to the lower opening, making sure it's flush with the surrounding wall. Pre-drill the holes, then secure with screws place about every 6-8" all the way around.

    9. Cut and nail trim around the component box (figure G) before nailing baseboards back into place.

    10. Use caulk to seal the seams and nail holes and ensure a smooth look after paint is applied.

    11. Sand the third coat of joint compound and remove residue. Then, paint the trim before moving on to the larger wall surface (figure H).

With the media wall constructed, the monitors in place and the trim and paint applied, there are still a few finishing touches that need to be done before enjoying the games!
