World-traveling attorney Roslyn Satchel calls her home her sanctuary. A lover of color and texture, Satchel selected pristine white carpet to offset her art collection and African artifacts. Satchel's visitors must take off their shoes when entering the house, and it's the front entry and living room that are problematic. The vast entry, with its large windows, cavernous ceilings and plain walls, is a bit cold and uninviting for her taste.

Satchel's first order of business? Getting rid of the front door.

The front room and entryway is cavernous and needs to be visually scaled down.
|
Although the large windows allow a lot of light to enter the room, sun exposure can erode the bright colors of the artwork.

The DIY to the Rescue crew arrives at Satchel's home to warm up and scale down the space -- and make it a showplace for her art collection. The crew plans to install a new front door, add paint to warm the walls, replace the scratched floor, stain the banister and build a corner bench where guests can sit to remove their shoes.
