Components used from the slatwall system:

    3 tall gearboxes
    1 gear rack
    1 modular workbench
    1 modular gear drawer
    2 modular gear boxes
    3 wall gear boxes
    3 - 19" baskets
    4 - 30" shelves
    30 tool hooks
    6 tool racks
549 sq.ft of slatwall (for this project)

    1. Using the stud finder, locate wood studs and mark the walls with pencil.

    2. Using the AC finder, locate and mark electrical wiring. In this example, the electrical box is surface-mounted and can simply be pulled up and away from the wall while the slat wall is installed.

    3. Snap a chalk level line at a convenient height on the walls.

    4. Measure from the chalk line to the ceiling and determine the lowest point of the ceiling along the wall.

    5. From the lowest point, measure down 12-1/4 inches and snap a chalk line on all application walls.

    6. Be sure to measure and cut panels ahead of time for electrical outlets and switches.

    7. Start at one of the top corners and work toward the other corner in horizontal rows.

    8. Measure from the starting edge of the wall to the center of the last wood stud that is within 8 feet.

    9. Cut the first panel to this length, making sure the cut is square.

    10. Align the panel with both the starting edge and the horizontal chalk line 12-1/4 inches from the ceiling. Panels are installed with the interlock tongue up and the groove down (figure A).

    11. Check for level and then install a screw in every slot at every stud location. Drive the screws through the slot grooves until they are flush (figure B).

    12. Measure and cut slatwall panels to fit around doors (figure C) and windows (figure D) as needed.

    13. Continue to the opposite edge of the wall.

    14. Then start a new row and remember to stop to check for level.

    15. The final row of panels can be "rip cut" lengthwise horizontally to fit the required height.

    16. Proceed with the additional walls the same way, but be sure to align the slots with the installed wall.
