LV Home IntroductionDeep in the Wisconsin Farmland, it looks like a typical build site, but Derek Card and his crew have the unusual challenge of designing a modern, architect designed, kit homefor the first time. Prefabricated components like precut "open" wall panels will be easy for the crew to master. However, Derek knows the complex engineering may cause frustrations for his crew. Those tricky, complicated details are essential to the efficient LV style home, the brainchild of star architect Rocio Romero.
Rocios own LV home in Perryville, Missouri demonstrates characteristic efficiency. Large sliding glass doors that homeowners can open are one of the main design features; Rocio says most of her clients choose to situate their home in such a way that they can take advantage of the best view possible. At about $32,000 for the panelized kit, Rocio proves that prefab and contemporary design can join forces.
When Rocio first took her idea to the mass market, she encountered a few skeptics in the manufacturing community; she was unable to find a single manufacturer that would agree to exactly what she wanted. Her struggle soon transformed into success when she discovered that enlisting specialized manufacturers for each component was more conducive to her design. She stays on top of every detail by going to each manufacturer to inspect each piece of new home, like the southern yellow pine panels at a top notch panel shop near her home base in Missouri.
