  • Yurt Home: The Germanis
  • From "Assembly Required"
    episode DASR-111

Paul and Jane Germani know what it’s like to build a yurt home. They built theirs high up in the trees near Eugene, Oregon. Jane’s an artist and Paul is an accountant, and for these two, building a "tree house" had all the romance of childhood, and none of the simplicity.

    The Germanis

Before they even broke ground, their steep wooded lot presented problems. Oregon Yurtworks helped the Germanis design a yurt that would fit on their tough site. Jane became the general contractor on the project, which meant she could add her own artistic finesse. The build took just four days thanks to the prefab construction and the expert guidance of the crew. The open spaces in the 24 foot diameter bedroom yurt and 29 foot diameter living room yurt invite in the wooded views.
