The Rushford FamilyIt takes all their strength to lift the metal compression ring up the scaffolding. One by one, Mike and Brace lift the 150 pound hip and intermediate trusses. Warren mans the walls and Rodney and Tony nail the ends to the metal ring. With Tony as captain, these stick-framers start to look like prefab pros. Next, the crew installs the tension collar which holds the trusses to the compression ring and keeps the roof strong. Warren and Brace line up the sub-fascia along the rafters before the crew calls it a day.
On day five of the build, the guys lay in the pearlings, little strips of wood that lock the roof trusses together and nail in the plywood sheathing. With the help of their advisor, the crew meets their deadline and finishes the weather-tight shell in just five days.
