Lucky Bamboo, Rock Paperweights and Tacks

    advertisement

    PHOTO

It's easy to have an office that rocks with lucky bamboo, stone paperweights and easy-to-make magnets.
    Materials (paperweights):

    1 large river rock
small scrap of felt, similar in color to the rock
    green craft paint
small paintbrushes, including an angled paintbrush
    tacky glue

    1. Using an angled paintbrush, paint a small fern leaf on a rock. Begin with one long stroke to create the center of the leaf before adding small leaves to the center stroke (figure A). Let the paint dry, add 2 coats of clear spray varnish and let dry.

    2. Cut a small circle of felt to fit the base of the rock and attach with tacky glue (figure B). The felt bottom will prevent scratches on your furniture.

    Materials (bamboo):

    small shallow pot or dish
3 stalks of "lucky bamboo" (Dracaena) in different heights
    cable tie
    small polished garden stones
    distilled water

    1. Use a cable tie to secure the bamboo together at the base of the stalks (figure E). When the stalks are secure, trim the ends of the tie.

    2. Place the bound stalks in the center of a pot and secure them in place with small rocks (figure F). Water with distilled water; change the water every 10 days (figure G).
