A Track for Some Children

Important: This demonstration shows provides some of the basic information for assembly and operation of this particular slot-car setup. There are variations in assembly for different kits and models. Read and carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions that come with yours, whether it is this particular kit or another. Additional information about assembly as well as running, troubleshooting and fine-tuning the model can be found in the manufacturer's instructions.

• Nine of the kids from Bethel Bible Village are on hand to help Chris and Alan in the steps necessary to build this megatrack (figure A).

• To "divide and conquer," Chris enlists the help of half of the kids to set up the borders and barriers that line the track.

• Meanwhile, Alan enlists the rest of the kids to help him with joining the track sections that will be used to create this eight-turn racecourse. He demonstrates how to join connect the sections (figure B), turns the kids loose, and the race (or at least the pre-race race) is on!

• Chris demonstrates how to snap together the border and barrier pieces (figure C) to help keep the cars from flying off the track in high-speed turns. The borders simply snap into place on both curved and straight portions of track (figure D). The border pieces are always installed with the smooth portion of the barrier facing the track.

• Work continues as the full track is pieced together (figure E) to create a complete circuit (figure F). Chris gives a quick lesson to the potential new race-fans on how to use the car controllers.
