Wool is harvested from the angora rabbit's back, starting just behind the ears.

The natural process by which the angora rabbit loses its fur produces some of the softest yarn available. Michele Sheehan spins her own wool from the angora rabbit 's fur and believes it is a natural process connecting people to nature and preventing wasteful practices. When the fur is ready to be harvested, Michele Sheehan combs the fur and then plucks loose tufts away. The fur that is harvested is ready to be shed, so the animal isn 't harmed.
