    Tips:

    • When you're stripping wallpaper, it's a good idea to shut off the power at the breaker that supplies any walls you're working on. Electricity, water and metal tools should never be combined.

    • A light coat of disinfecting liquid sprayed on the paste side of wallpaper as you install will inhibit mildew without affecting the adhesion of the paste.

    • Alcohol prep pads are the just right for removing small oil or grease spots from walls before wallpapering.

    • It's a good idea to arrange your gutter system so that it releases water at least 8 feet away from your home's foundation.

    • To remove moss, first soak the area with water and then apply a weed killer, following manufacturer's instructions. Let it stand for five minutes, then scrub the area vigorously with a stiff nylon brush and rinse.

    • Interior and exterior furniture have similar dimensions. When planning a new deck or patio, imagine your interior dining and living areas without walls and you'll get an idea of the exterior space you'll need.
