    1. Unscrew the clamps from the bass drum.

    2. Remove the drum head and rings, and then set aside.

    5. Cut the drum in half using a jig saw along the tape line (figure C). Remove the tape.

    6. Cut a circular piece of 1/2 inch MDF using a jig saw to the diameter of the drum.

    7. Apply white primer, and tehn allow it to dry.

    8. Cut a piece of colored acrylic (figure D) using a band saw or fine tooth jig saw blade the same diameter as the MDF circle.

    9. Measure for two shelves, and then cut two lengths of 3/4 inch oak plywood the length of the drum plus two inches longer than the diameter.

    10. Trace the curves of the drum onto the edges of the shelves. Measure the angle, and then cut it with an angled circular saw—making sure to clamp the cut piece to the work surface.

    11. Apply two coats of semi-gloss polyurethane to the shelves and interior of the drum. Let it dry completely.

    12. Fit the acrylic and MDF circles into the back of the drum.

    13. Pre-drill and screw them into the MDF from the sides using rounded silver screws.

    14. Drop in the shelves, pre-drill and screw through the sides of the drum using rounded silver screws.

    15. Replace the drum head rings on the back and front edges of the drum. Use rounded silver screws and washers as spaces if necessary to reattach.

    Snare Drum

    1. Cut a circular piece of 1/2 inch MDF with a jig saw to the diameter of the drum, and then apply white primer.

    2. Cut a piece of colored acrylic the same size as the MDF circle using a band saw or toothed jig saw blade.

    3. Measure for two shelves, and then cut two lengths of 3/4 inch oak plywood the length of the drum plus two inches longer than the diameter.

    4. Trace the curves of the drum onto the edges of the shelves. Measure the angle, and then cut it with an angled circular saw—making sure to clamp the cut piece to the work surface.

    5. Apply several coats of semi-gloss polyurethane to the shelves and the interior of the snare drum. Let it dry completely.
