    This close-up view of the five-foot tall steel-
    reinforced piers shows the termite shield that
    creates a boundary between the piers and the wood.
    According to Habitat's Billy Puckett, "In the build
    process, we make sure that our entire house is tied
    together. So our houses are tied at each level,
    from the pilings to the foundation to the blocks to the
    seal-beam floor system. In theory, if it all washed away,
    that house would still be there."
