- To replace the new gasket, put the screws in place to help push the drainpipe back (figure B). Be careful not to push too much to avoid cracking the plastic pipe.
Replace the cap back on with screws creating a tight hold between the gasket and the tub, and the drain tight to the gasket (figure C). Again, make sure not to over-tighten the screws to avoid breaking the plastic drain pipe.To seal the base of the toilet, use a common tube of bathroom caulk to seal the base of the toilet. This will seal the area from any overflow water flowing underneath the toilet.
Start by drawing a bead of caulk around the base of the toilet. Use a wet finger to wipe along the bead caulk. This will help fill any gaps and clear away any excess. Next: Installing a Toilet Anti-Sweat Valve
