Concrete is proving to be a versatile material, and can colorful and a good imitator of stone. But it also has its drawbacks--especially when it' s on your sidewalk or porch and it begins to crack or peel (figure A). As technology has advanced, concrete overlays have become the choice of homeowners who want to salvage their ugly concrete. In this project, Rock Solid hosts Derek Stearns and Dean Marsico--along with guest expert Rod Johnson of Elite Crete®--rescue a painted and peeling concrete porch. They begin by cleaning off the peeling paint, then use a concrete overlay and stamped concrete system to give the porch a facelift. The result will be a revitalized porch with the look of stone.
