| Curb Appeal: The Final Natural Elements |

To complete the landscaping of the front yard and entrance way for the Oberg home, the big machinery moves (figure A) in to bring the last of the natural elements. These giant rocks are specifically chosen for this particular design. The bigger the rocks are the more they cost! Note: These custom touches cost more than our homeowners' (Brad and Lynn Oberg) builder set aside for this part of the landscaping process. Brad and Lynn must pay for the extras.
Finishing the JobThe following tasks are done to complete the landscaping of the front lawn and entrance way: - Smaller plants are added to the front bed.
- A top layer of mushroom compost and mulch is distributed around the plants (figure B).
- The lawn area is covered in grass seed and a little more fresh topsoil.
- A layer of hay (figure C) is used to hold in the moisture for the grass seed.
- And the moment of truth comes with the testing of the irrigation system, and with only a few minor adjustments, it works beautifully.
- The lonely dogwood tree that Lynn saved during the excavation process is planted.
Remember that the Oberg's landscaping will be an ongoing work in progress. For more information on landscaping, click here for the Home IQ online-package page, and scroll down to the lower left for the "Landscaping" articles.
