With the help of the homeowners, the DIY Crew the Russell's cluttered mess into a spacious workshop that is not only functional, but looks great too! Amy Devers shows homeower John Russell how to trick out their garage with metal trim used as kickplates, brickmold, and corner trim.
Materials:metal trim strips (with adhesive backing) utility knife chop saw or compound miter say saw blade for cutting metal measuring tape gloves
Steps:1. This type of metal trim is not only attractive, but functional (figure A). Once installed it will serve to keep the new drywall from getting "dinged." The strips of metal trim often come in 8 foot increments. If your wall is more than 8 feet, start by putting on the 8 foot piece first, then measure the leftover wall area and cut a strip accordingly (figure B).
2. Then just peel off the adhesive back and stick into place (figures C & D). Make sure to put the tapered in toward the floor.3. Continue process on all the walls, doorways, windows, and corners (figure E).
