Organization is the key to creative accessorizing. Joan Epstein shows Joan Kohn, host of HGTV's Kitchen Design, the large closet she designed, which allows her to see all her dishes and table linens at a glance.

Whether you completely redecorate your kitchen or remodel one area at a time, adding your own personal touch will ensure satisfying results. Joan Epstein, an accessories consultant, puts a unique spin on everything. She gives Joan Kohn, host of HGTV's Kitchen Design, a tour of her exceptional kitchen -- an area that reflects her warm family life and love of color.

Joan Epstein designed her fun, colorful kitchen -- a perfect place for kids, relatives and friends to gather -- around her favorite colors and accessories. Surfaces in red laminate provide the intense color and glossy look she wanted, and the brilliant red, combined with black accessories and maple woodwork, creates a look that's both sophisticated and fun.

Joan says the key to accessorizing is to use things you love in pleasing ways. Her goal is not to make a specific design statement or to search for an important accessory to make a look -- she simply chooses and arranges objects that please her or hold some importance for her or her family.

Large pieces of artwork are hung on the kitchen walls, and children's art fills the room as well. Plants and eye-catching fresh flowers are chosen for their shape and color.

Joan designed a kitchen closet cabinet that opens to reveal all her dishes and napkins at a glance, which allows her to use the dining table as a blank palette that she can set creatively at every meal.
