An adjustable curtain rod, installed in your kitchen, provides a great place for hanging kitchen utensils and other necessities within easy reach. It can be made to fit most spaces, and with many styles to choose from, you're bound to find one to match your decor (figure A). A simple black rod works well in a classic traditional kitchen, whereas a fancy brass-finished rod complements a kitchen with lots of ornate hardware. To mount the curtain rod, install the brackets that come with it. Locate wall studs first, or use toggle bolts for a secure hold. When it's in place, use S hooks to hang kitchen utensils, a pretty potholder or a plait of garlic or dried peppers from your curtain-rod utensil holder.
