  • From "Warehouse Warriors"
    episode WHW-506

It's designers and engineers (Red Team) versus builders (Blue Team) on this episode of Warehouse Warriors. The challenge: build a window seat around a bay window. The Red Team is at the drawing table with a convertible design, complete with a hidden surprise. The Blue Team hammers out the details with a multi-purpose structure guaranteed to make you want to curl up and stay awhile.

    Project: Window Seat
    Length of Competition: 8 hours

    Red Team's Project:

A unique use of space is the plan for this window seat. Two box seats, complete with cushions, form bench seating under the window. The seats are also hinged to swing away from the window and provide two facing seats complete with back support panels. The panels are hinged to lay flat and act as part of the bench seat (under the cushions) when not needed. When the seats swing out, a surprise is revealed: a mini refrigerator tucked into a recessed wall space. The result is a great place to read, do homework, have a snack or just enjoy the view.

    Final Score: 210

Blue Team's Project: A cozy, but ambitious design that includes not only a window seat, but a sleeping platform, complete with drawer space. Enclosed on two sides by tall shelving units, it becomes a relaxing spot for hobbies, homework, or just curling up with a good book. A window box and a bird feeder ensure delightful views.

    Final Score: 249
