Ed Del Grande discusses the competition with the Blue Team, as it displays its finished design.
Craftsmanship and experience are in plentiful supply as two teams from August Home Publishing, publisher of five home building publications, compete to design and build the ultimate craft work/storage area. The Red Team has a collective background that includes boat building, framing, cabinetry and home improvement. The Blue Team has expertise with outdoor projects, furniture building, roofing, concrete and historic home restoration.

    Project: Craft/Sewing Worktable
    Length of Competition 8 hours

    Red Team's Project:

Function and fun abound in the design of this free-form work station. Designed for adults and children, this multi-level, kidney shaped work area has two smaller, adjustable swing-out work spaces on either side. Easy to reach shelving and vibrant colors complete this resourceful and innovative design.

    Final Score: 276

    Blue Team's Project:
Furniture with style is the focus for this work station. An armoire-inspired cabinet with tile, trim work and dummy doors opens to reveal a fold-down work surface, lighting and spacious shelving. When not in use,
it is an elegant piece of furniture, suitable for any area in the home.

    Final Score: 221
