    Red Team Activity Journal (9 a.m. - 1 a.m.)

    • The Red Team has decided to go with an open three shelf design that angles in towards the top. The design also includes a light on top and a shelf that opens down and hangs from chains.

    • The team cuts two 3' 1 x 4s, one 3' 1 x 6 and two 3.5" 1 x 4s, which are nailed into the shape of a box and will eventually hold a light fixture (figure A).

    • Molding is cut and nailed around each side of the box.

    Blue Team Activity Journal (9 a.m. - 11 a.m.)

    • After deciding on a pantry with a castle theme (featuring arched doors with large hinges and a jagged castle roof), the Blue Team gets to work. First, the team cuts a 7x4 piece of oak plywood and dado cuts along the 4' sides.

    • Next, the team cuts two 4' 1 x 4s and two 17" 1 x 4s. These will make a frame to support the castors on the bottom.

    • Two 2' x 7' sides are cut from plywood.

    • A 23.5" x 4' piece of plywood is cut for the top of the cupboard. Dado cuts are made along the top, bottom, and back edges(figure B).
