    • The team cuts and nails pieces of 1 x 2s to trim the bar's edges (figure A). They also use the pieces to cover any exposed gaps at the corners.

    • After nailing a small, pre-made rack for glasses on the inside front of the bar, they make a wine rack by drilling grooves into plywood to hold the necks of bottles (figure B).

    • Sheets of lattice are cut and attached at the entrance to the serving area and they nail plastic roofing to the roof supports.

    • They have just enough time to stain the molding and countertops before Ed blows his horn (figure C).
    Blue Team Activity Journal (3 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

    • The Blue Team cuts and bends copper sheeting around a 1 x 8 board for the bartender's counter on the lower part of the larger section (figure D).

    • Once the small and larger countertops are screwed into place, they finish siding the bar with plywood paneling.

    • Finally, coat hooks are attached to the front of the bar (figure E) and the corner space is outfitted with a shelf to hold the refrigerator (figure F).

    Score summary:

The judges praised the Blue Team's use of materials, particularly the copper bartender's counter and the faux brick facing. The sheer size of the Red Team's patio bar impressed them, too. The judges liked the creative design of the U-shaped bar entrance plus the roof and storage areas. The voting was close, but in the end the Red Team was awarded the victory.
