    Red Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)

    • After sanding down the edges of their plywood wheels, the team cuts wood paneling with a circular saw for the sides of the truck (figure A). To get the right size and shape, they first place the paneling against the truck frame and trace around it.

    • Once the wood paneling is nailed to the sides, they turn their attention back to the wheels. Smaller circles are cut to make hubcaps and then painted silver. The bigger wheels are painted black and both sets of wheels are screwed together.

    • Next, side windows are cut out with the retractable saw and the inside of the truck is outfitted with white paneling . The team again traces out the truck's shape on the paneling and then cuts it out with a circular saw.

    Blue Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)

    • After a panel for the back door frame is cut to size, the team turns its attention to the inside shelf. They cut 2 x 4s for the shelf frame and nail the pieces together. More 2 x 4s are angle cut to create braces. The braces are nailed to the shelf frame (figure B) and then the unit is attached to the playhouse frame. Three pieces of synthetic decking are cut and nailed into the top of the shelf frame.

    • The plywood panel for the front of the playhouse is first cut to size -- 74-1/2 by 39 inches -- and then an opening for the door is cut out. The door is 56-inches high and 21-inches wide. The team attaches the panel to the front of the playhouse.
