Red Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - Blue and white tile is glued to the regular tabletop with a hot glue gun (figure A) and details are added to the table legs with red and black paint.
- Hardware for the Lazy Susan is screwed into the underside of the tabletop (figure B).
- After the dice-patterned chair covers are added to the seat frames, the tops are attached with hinges to allow for storage.
Ed's tip: To help you cut a clean edge with your table saw, make sure the finish side - the good side - of your piece of wood is facing up. It's the exact opposite with a circular saw. With that tool, the good side of the wood should be facing down. This keeps the saw blade from roughing the edge when it cuts.
Blue Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
- Another birch tabletop is cut with the circular saw using the original plywood top as a template . The second top adds height and stability. Then, the edges are sanded smooth with a finishing sander.
- Molding is measured, cut and nailed to the table edges and around the checkerboard (figure C).
- Both tabletops are screwed into the pre-made cabinets.
- Next, the tabletop is covered with green felt and attached with a nail gun (figure D).
