Red Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - The Red Team adds mobility to their planetarium by adding caster wheels to the corners.
- Next, the corners of each wall are painted black (figure A), and the structure is turned upright so the team can complete work on the top.
- The team cuts four pieces of maroon roofing material to 48" wide, then attaches the roofing to two sides of the structure.
- Then, the team cuts three pieces of clear roofing material to 25" wide. The clear roofing pieces are attached to the each corner of the structure (figure B).
- Pressure-treated 2 x 4s are cut for the bench and bench frame.
- Brown roofing cut to 58" x 58" is added to the far corner of the roof, then two pieces of maroon roofing are cut to 20" wide.
Blue Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - The Blue Team measures and cuts T1-11 plywood to fit all sides of their planetarium design, then added metal brackets to augment the corners.
- Next, the team cuts and adds two shelves to the inside of the building (figure C). Right angle metal brackets are used to support the shelves.
- Then, the team builds a removable roofing frame and attach Simpson Strong Ties where the pieces connect. A second roof frame is built to mirror the first (figure D).
