Red Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - After adding support to the serving area, the Red Team adds trim. First, the team cuts a beveled edge on a 1" x 6" piece of poplar to match the unfinished cabinet drawers.
- A planer is used to correct a discrepancy in the size of the trim. The trim is run through the planer (figure A) three times to reduce the trim.
- The team attaches beadboard to the back of the bar. Pre-made decorative brackets (figure B) are added to support the raised counter, before the team finishes the trim by running a router over the edges.)
Blue Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - The Blue Team decides to add a wine rack to their design. First, they cut the corners from the wet bar, then cut 1" x 4"s to fit inside the corner space. Semicircles are cut in the 1" x 4" to create nest for the neck and base of wine bottle (figure C).
- The team then uses construction adhesive to attach beadboard (figure D) to the exposed sides of the cabinet as well as the around the bar.
- The team cuts plywood to make the countertop and temporarily secures the top with screws for stability during measuring and marking.
