    Red Team Activity Journal (3 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

    • The Red Team quickly begins work on a roof for their footbridge design. First, the team builds a traditional triangle roof, with the two ends supported by a 4x4 spine. A lattice is added to the roof skeleton (figure A).

    • To finish the project, a forklift is used to raise the roof into place (figure B).

    Blue Team Activity Journal (3 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

    • With its bridge almost complete, the Blue Team adds finishing details. First, a green lattice is added for the roof (figure C).

    • Then, a handrail is created with two pieces of rope threaded together (figure D).

    • Non-skid strips are added to the wood planks to increase safety, and bricks are stacked to create "makeshift" steps leading to the bridge.

    The Final Moment

While the Red Team worked well together, and the Blue Team disagreed in the beginning, both teams were able to complete their projects in the allotted time. Now it's time to await judgment!

    Score Summary:

Both projects are so well-built, the judges find it hard to decide. The Red Team is praised for the natural, outdoorsy look of its bridge, as well as its attention to detail and traditional design. But the green banana leaves, lattice roof and creative usage of rope wins the high score, and the Blue Team is declared victorious!

Base scores are determined using a 1-10 scale, 10 being the highest. For complete details on the judging/scoring process, click here.
