Red Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
- The Red Team is still concentrating on the walkway -- and hasn't even started work on a roof. The team chains the composite decking together and attached with carriage bolts (figure A).
- The carriage bolts are tightened with a wrench underneath the surface of the bridge walkway, then cut (figure B) to crush the threads.
- Next, the team notches horizontal beams and attaches them to the tops of the vertical posts with lag screws.
Blue Team Activity Journal (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
- The Blue Team installs vertical supports to the base of the bridges, notching and attaching with lag screws (figure C).
- The team attaches 2x6 beams to the top of the 4x4 vertical supports to create a roof, then drills holes on the top beams for a rope canopy.
- The Blue Team is going bananas! After securing rope to the vertical supports with eyebolts, the team drapes green fabric around the sides of the roof -- resembling banana tree leaves (figure D).
