Red Team Activity Journal (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - The Red Team -- making good progress -- builds the wall frames using 2x4s. A back wall and two side walls (where 2' window frames are added) are constructed.
- The window frame (figure A) is constructed 20" from the floor -- the perfect size for a small girl.
Ed's Tip If you want to add a special touch to a playhouse, try making your own shutters from scrap wood. To create channels on a window shutter, use a flathead bit with a table router -- which will create a perfect groove. The same effect can be achieved using a fence on a handheld router. Blue Team Activity Journal (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - After nailing the floor of the playhouse into place, a hand saw is used to cut away excess (figure B).
- Next, the team creates a right side wall using 16" 2x4s. The team adds double bracing on both ends, then adds interior vertical frame -- nailed to playhouse floor -- to the right wall frame,
- After finishing the right wall frame, the team moves on to construct the left frame.
