Red Team Activity Journal (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - With the "swingset" frame complete, the Red Team determines placement, then begins cutting plywood shelves that will be suspended from the frame.
- Once the shelves have been cut to the correct size, the team cuts ornamental molding used to "wrap" the shelves (figure A).
- Putty is applied to the shelves; then the shelves are sanded to create a finished appearance.
Blue Team Activity Journal (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - With the panels already cut, the Blue Team proceeds to assemble the floor, back and sides of their entertainment unit (figure B).
- The panels are secured with both glue and nails to create structural strength.
