With the prep work done, the crew finishes the walls by adding Marlite tongue and groove paneling. The look is completed by adding wood trim stained to match the paneling.
Materials and Tools:pre-finished paneling adhesive/bonding glue (one that remains flexible even after it dries) retaining clips nail gun case hardened T-nails Note: Hosts Karl Champley and Amy Devers team up with experts in restoration from Paul Davis Construction to give the Detroit Tigers' Fetzer Hall a new lineup.
Steps:1. Apply adhesive/bond glue to the backside of the pre-finished paneling (figure A) in a serpentine pattern to ensure adequate coverage (figure B).
2. For best adhesion, place the plank against the wall and press along the full length of the panel (figure C). 3. Then remove the panel from the wall (figure D) to allow oxygen to begin to harden the adhesive (figure E), and press back in place. Repeat the process one more time.
4. Now secure the panel firmly in place (figure F). To allow for expansion and contraction, this adhesive remains slightly flexible even once fully dry.5. Install retaining clips using the nail gun (figure G). 6. Working from left to right, continue to install clips and panels until the whole wall is covered.
7. Lastly, install trim at the top of the panels (figure H). Be sure not to nail through the center of the panel but along the top near the ceiling (figure I).
