  • The Greens' One-Room Schoolhouse
  • From "DIY to the Rescue"
    episode DTTR-206

Julie and Kevin Green's nine children attend school at their Indianapolis home and have to endure a classroom in total disrepair. DIY to the Rescue is ready to help the Greens earn an A-plus in home improvement. The team will help the Greens change a gloomy home-schooling environment to one that will hopefully inspire learning and achievement.

The Greens' large, historic home was converted into six apartments in the 1970s. Since the Greens purchased the home, Kevin has been attempting to turn the house back into a single-family dwelling, often finding himself in over his head.
It's time for a rescue! Here's what's on the roster for the Greens' classroom:

    Repair plaster
Add new suspended ceiling and lighting
Add efficient supply storage to the closet, as well as decorative trim around the door
    Replace lockers
Add paint, window treatments and finishing touches

The Greens: Home-schooling nine children leaves little time to tackle home improvement projects.

The exposed ceiling joists leave the space drafty and dismal.

The lockers give the feel of a real classroom, but would benefit from an update.
