    Creating a Decorative Paint Scheme

    1. Measure the room's floor to create a grid pattern. Do this by first finding the center line to create a 21 grid pattern.

    2. Lay out the lines across the room and make equal marks roughly every 2' and place matching marks on the other end of the room.

    3. Lay out the grid in our first direction with a chalk line.

    4. Lay pre-marked tape over the chalk line, and once the tape is down in one direction, use marks on the tape to lay it in the other direction (figure A).

    5. Mix the concrete overlay with correct amount of water and color according to directions, mixing the powder into the water otherwise it will clump up.

    6. Mix with a paddle bit for two minutes until it is the consistency of frosting, and let it slate (set for a couple of minutes) and then stir again.

Note: Be sure to protect the walls with paper or plastic and wear protective clothing.

    7. Use a hopper gun to spray overlay onto the floor. Be sure to spray slowly and evenly, leaving a nice speckled pattern (figure B).

    8. Go over top with second color to fill in the gaps and give a contrasting look.

    9. Let it set overnight.

    10. Pull up the tape on the floor once it's dry.

    11. Paint the floor with waterproof sealer and let dry.

    12. Paint the sink with a concrete stain and sealer (figure C).

With the floor setting overnight and 10 hours on the job, the next step shown in the next segment is to create and hang the storage units and shelving.
