    To help the Connellys organize the laundry room, the Rescue crew calls in organizational specialist Colleen Landaiche to help install custom-designed shelves.

    *Note: since these shelves were custom-designed to fit the Connellys' space, the following dimensions will change depending on the space. A total of nine sheets of 4' x 8' birch plywood were needed to complete this project.



    1. Locate and mark studs in the wall (Tip: a sticky note will easily mark placement), then pre-drill first shelf (figure A) at the corresponding measurements of the studs locations.


    2. Pre-drill the second and third shelves at the locations of the studs.


    3. Mount first shelf to the wall and secure screws into the studs. Tip: A telescoping painter's pole can assist in supporting the shelf during installation (figure B).


    4. Attach vertical risers onto the first shelf, then drill up through the riser from bottom surface of first shelf (figure C) to secure.


    5. Slide second shelf onto the risers to rest on the riser pins.


    6. Place the third shelf onto the top of the vertical risers and screw it into place into the risers.


    7. Attach second and third shelves to the wall by securing 3" wood screws in the pre-drilled holes.
