7. Install a header into the top of the opening, using jack studs to secure it into place (figure E).8. With the header and jack stud assembly screwed into place, add new drywall (or reuse a scrap of the old over the top the exposed header.
9. Seal drywall at patched area using joint compound.
10. Install pine-casing cut to fit inside the pass-through.
11. Cut a sill stool to fit on bottom of pass-through and nail into place.
12. Stain sill and trim in desired color. Paint patched area of drywall, or wait until entire room is repainted (as in this example).
