1. Determine the location of the wall studs in the area where the pass-through will be located by tapping a nail into the wall until you hit a stud. 2. Once you have located the stud, use a hammer to knock holes in the wall (figure A) between the studs, making sure there are no wires or plumbing in the area.
3. Measure the hole to be removed and mark the wall with a chalk line (figure B).
