Your dryer won't work properly without an exhaust hose.

Check your dryer hose periodically to make sure it hasn't filled up with lint. If you have any trouble cleaning out the lint, it'll probably be easier to discard the old hose and install a new one.

When attaching a dryer hose, slide the hose clamp over the hose before you try to fit it to the dryer (figure A). Slide the hose onto the dryer fitting, and tighten the clamp (figure B).

One way to make sure your dryer hose stays clean is to wipe off your lint trap each time you use the dryer (figure C).

Check your exterior vent (figure D) periodically for obstructions. The vent clamps onto the wall and has a one-way valve to prevent pests from entering. However, persistent birds have been known to squeeze into the opening to build nests.
If your dryer is in a tight location, you might need an attachment that connects to the fixture on the dryer and telescopes up and down so that you can get to the hose fixture more easily (figure E).

It's always better to vent your dryer outside your home. If you can't vent the dryer outside, however, you can use an indoor filter. Fill the filter with water, and attach the dryer hose. Empty the water after each use.
